for arts & humanities in historic brownville, nebraska
The Brownville Education Center for Arts & Humanities was founded as a non-profit organization in 2021, with a mission to bring workshops supporting the Arts & Humanities to the quaint & historic community of Brownville, Nebraska.
The project reflects a long history of learning and creativity, with its home base in the original Brownville schoolhouse. The site held the first meeting of the Nebraska State Teachers' Association on October 16, 1867. After the building's use as a school (once the largest free school in Nebraska), it was home to the lauded Antiquarium Bookstore when the owner Tom Rudolph settled in Brownville.
The BECAH building is now the site for intergenerational, hands-on experiences in art, film, writing and music.
BECAH has the luxury of being able to cater to small groups and special interests, from cartoon
drawing to the words of Willa Cather.
We hope you’ll be part of this new phase of one of Brownville’s oldest treasures!
